Dreher Island State Park

We picked the kids up a little early from school Friday afternoon and drove to Dreher Island State Park for the weekend.  This was our first official camping trip with every member of the family, including Charlie.  I will not lie.  It is a lot of work to get everything organized and loaded up for a trip.  I am hoping after a few more trips it will get a little easier.

Thankfully, this was just a fun weekend trip that we planned a few weeks back and not an evacuation trip to avoid hurricane Irene.  We were so grateful that she was going north of us.  Our thoughts were with everyone who would be affected.  We saw a ton of trucks on the highway carrying huge generators and many power trucks heading north.

Charlie rode in the camper and got sick on the drive.  It was pretty gross and he needed a bath immediately. He had found some blue play-doh that Ali had dropped on the floor so you can imagine what the mess looked like.  Poor little guy.  We didn't feed him before the trip home and he did great.  I guess he just got a little car sick on the way up there.

Our camp site was about 10 yards away from Lake Murray.  It was so beautiful and the kids loved playing in the lake.  We took a bike ride, played at a couple of playgrounds, played some games and just hung out.  The kids had a great time and were not ready to come home.  You can see all our pictures here
