Lia's 7th Birthday Party

Lia's birthday started off with warm cinnamon rolls and gifts from me and Chris. Her first gift was a locket. She has been telling us for weeks that she wanted a locket with her and Sophie's picture inside. We also got her a charm bracelet with a birthday cake charm and the letter L.

The party was this afternoon at the Oldfield pool. Here she is with the Happy Birthday sign she made for herself. :)
A couple years ago I printed off the instructions for making this rainbow cake from theidearoom.net. Lia loved it and asked me to make it for her birthday. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. And, cool whip frosting does not last long in the heat. I think it turned out really well. The colors just pop when you cut into it.
We had cake, the number 7 sugar cookies and a few present cookies that looked like cupcakes, swedish fish, skittles, watermelon and pineapple.

This picture just cracked me up! Luke and Cameron were rubbing Ian's head because it felt so soft. Hilarious!
The weather did not cooperate for the party. The kids swam for about 30 minutes and then we heard thunder. We had to exit the pool and wait 20 minutes without hearing thunder in order to get back into the pool. So, we ate cake and cookies and let Lia open her gifts. The thunder never ceased so the kids ended up playing in the workout room inside the Sports Club. Mona, the Sports Club Director, jumped in and started playing games with the kids. She is so great with the kids and they all love her. She saved the day!

Are those pictures of the cake you made? I'm IMPRESSED! It looks professional. I've always wanted to make one of those, but I thought it looked too hard.

Really enjoyed looking at the pictures...but, sure do miss you all! Looks like they had a blast (even though they didn't get to swim). Love you guys!
