First Day of School

Well, Ian and Lia finally got to start school today! They have been a little bummed about all their friends starting last week. They were both so excited. In the car on the way to school they kept saying to Ali, "see you in seven hours Ali".

The kids are attending a new school this year called Providence Academy, http://www.providence-academy.com/. Providence uses the University-School Model which means Ian and Lia will go to class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will complete the rest of their work at home on MWF or the weekend. We are very excited about this year and really feel like this is going to be a great fit for our family. Everyone I have met at Providence has been so welcoming and supportive. Ian and Lia have both had swim parties this past week with each of their classes, and the parents have met with their child's teacher for an hour orientation. They also held a parent kick off meeting last week to motivate the parents and to get us all prepared for the year. I have to admit that I am a little nervous and anxious about teaching my kids, but I am excited too. I'm sure it will take a few weeks to get adjusted to our new routine. There will be hard days, but we are ready to give it a try.

The kids get to pick two electives each semester. Ian's electives are Science and PE. Lia's electives are Cheer and PE. Lia had cheer class today and it was all she talked about on the way home from school. She loved it! Ian said he really liked his teacher and he had a fun day.
