Lia has been feeling a little left out lately. She was so excited about having a baby sister, but I don't think she was prepared for all the time I was going to have to spend with baby Ali. She has done a lot more whining, disobeying and acting out these last couple of weeks. It is hard on all of us, especially on the days when daddy is working and Ian is at school. Lia does not understand why we can't just jump in the car and go do something. So, in an effort to make her feel special and to give me a chance to talk to her about how life changes with a new baby, we had a mommy-daughter breakfast yesterday morning at Panera before I dropped her off at school. We had a great time and honestly, she just needed my undivided attention for a little while.
Then, this morning we met the Dossetts at Different Strokes, a paint your own pottery store. The kids had a great time, but the fun only lasted about thirty minutes. I thought for sure it would keep them busy for at least an hour. And, I was really hoping to spend some time with Lia by helping her paint, but Ali had other plans. I guess that is just life with a new baby.
