Bye, Bye Baby Teeth

Ian lost his first tooth today. And, his second! Both of his bottom front teeth have been loose now for a few weeks and this morning they were really bothering him. One in particular seemed very ready to come out. This has not been something that I have been looking forward to and it really kind of grossed me out when Ian showed me it wiggling around in his mouth. But, he was uncomfortable and determined to get the tooth out. A friend of mine told me to put a wet washcloth in the freezer and then use the washcloth to somewhat numb the area around the tooth and then use it to grasp the tooth in order to get it out. So, I got the washcloth ready and gave it to Ian. Within a few minutes he had the tooth out. When he went to the bathroom to check things out he was back in less than a minute showing me the second tooth. He is happy, proud and excited about loosing these teeth and has not stopped grinning all day. He has been such a big boy and did not cry once during the whole process. I can see the next two teeth coming in behind the big holes left in his gums. When Chris asked him what he thought he would get from the tooth fairy, Ian told him he wanted one $100 bill and one $5 bill. Um, I am sure the price of baby teeth has gone up somewhat since I was a kid, but not that much! My baby boy is growing up and it is kind of sad, but the joy on his face today totally outweighs the sadness.

This is the grin he had all day today. :)

WOW! Two teeth in one day! Isn't it amazing the things that kids get excited about? Love you! Mom/Mimi

That first picture of him made me laugh out loud!!! I can also attest that it is the first thing he told me (and showed me) when I saw him today.
